SEDCO presented Coherent Corp. with a performance-based incentive payment in recognition of the company’s continued investment and job growth in Sherman.
Coherent has documented more than $19.2 million in qualified investment at its Sherman facility and maintained an annual average of 363 full-time employees. The company’s approved expansion project is expected to add approximately 38 new jobs over the next three years.
Coherent’s continued growth strengthens Sherman’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem and supports opportunities for our local workforce.

Sherman’s housing growth continues to keep pace with demand.
The City of Sherman Development Services Department’s June 2026 Multifamily Occupancy Study shows an 80% occupancy rate across 50 sampled complexes, with 5,087 of the city’s 6,521 multifamily units currently occupied.
With more than 2,200 new units coming online over the past two years, along with renovations to existing properties, Sherman’s multifamily market is showing a balanced supply that aligns with projections from the 2024 Housing Study.
A healthy and diverse housing supply is an important part of supporting Sherman’s growing workforce, businesses, and community.

A study by the Development Services Department for multifamily occupancy rates was conducted during the month of June 2026.
The study sampled 50 multifamily complexes across the City of Sherman and collected occupancy rates for each.
There are currently 6,521 multifamily units in the City of Sherman, with 5,087 currently occupied. This results in an occupancy rate of 80%. An increase of 2,279 new multifamily units coming online in the last two years and major renovations to existing housing stock has contributed to improvements in multifamily throughout the City.
Overall, these numbers demonstrate Sherman’s multifamily supply is balanced and is tracking along with the estimates provided in the 2024 housing study.
