Students Have the Choices and Resources to Succeed in Sherman

Located in the heart of the Texoma region, Sherman Independent School District (SISD) is the largest and fastest growing public school district in Grayson County, serving over 7,800 students across 16 campuses. Known for its strong sense of community and commitment to student success, SISD prepares students for college, career, and life beyond the classroom.

SISD offers 25 Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, giving students opportunities to explore high demand fields such as engineering, advanced manufacturing, health sciences, cybersecurity, automotive technology, agriculture, culinary arts, and more. Many of these programs allow students to earn industry-recognized certifications and college credit while still in high school, providing a strong head start on future careers. SISD also offers a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP), dual-credit, and advanced academic courses, allowing students to earn college credit and reduce the time and cost of postsecondary education. Through partnerships with Grayson College, students can graduate with significant college coursework already completed.

With support from SEDCO and Workforce Solutions Texoma, SISD launched a modern Electronic Engineering Technology (EET) lab where students gain hands-on experience with industry-level equipment, including an automated universal robot used in advanced manufacturing and automation. These real world learning environments help students build practical skills that directly align with regional workforce needs.

The district continues to invest in modern facilities and technology, including a 1:1 student to technology device initiative and newly constructed campuses designed to support collaboration, innovation, fine arts, athletics, and continued enrollment growth. SISD maintains a graduation rate above the state average, reinforcing its reputation as a district focused on student achievement and long term success.

Friday Night Lights in Grayson County

In true Texas fashion, Friday Night Lights are a big part of life in Grayson County. One of the most anticipated events each season is the historic Battle of the Ax football game between Sherman and Denison. Dating back to 1901, it is the longest continuous high school rivalry in Texas and remains a tradition that brings students, families, alumni, and the entire community together each fall.
