SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - The city of Sherman is making upgrades to adjust to two major industrial customers’ use of two million gallons of water per day.
A few years ago, Sherman’s water use reached 10 million gallons per day and the Sherman well-system supported it. Now, Sherman Mayor Shawn Teamann says recent developments are calling for infrastructure upgrades to manage rapid growth.
“As we’re growing and seeing housing coming online and our industrial customers using more water, we’ve been taking steps to add additional resources,” said Teamann.
Upgrades include the Lake Texoma pump station where water comes from, the water treatment plant near Grayson College, the pipeline that delivers water to industries, and lastly, the largest project the city has taken on; the industrial wastewater sewer plant.
