Chamber of Commerce puts on awards ceremony

Sherman’s Chamber of Commerce recently held its yearly award ceremony. At the ceremony, area business owners and entities were recognized for efforts made in Sherman during 2022.

Carrus Health won the award for large business of the year and the small business of the year award went to ER of Texas Texoman. The Non-Profit of the year went to Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas. Large Business of the Year: Carrus Health Community Leader of the Year went to Kent Sharp.

Sharp became the president of the Sherman Economic Development Corporation in January 2019. According to information on SEDCO’s website, Sharp has 30 years of experience in Texas economic development. He has worked with five municipal economic development organizations including Shamrock, Stamford, Big Spring, Gainesville, and Abilene. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from Texas Christian University in 1991.
