Two multibillion-dollar projects north of Dallas have recently hit major milestones.

Texas Instruments Inc. and GlobalWafers Co. are building large high-tech manufacturing plants in Sherman, a small city of about 48,000 near the Oklahoma border. After years of construction, the two companies have completed the initial pieces of their respective campuses.

TI (Nasdaq: TXN) confirmed to the Dallas Business Journal on May 29 that it has completed construction of the first of the four semiconductor plants planned at its 1,200-acre site, located off U.S. 75 near Shepherd Road.
