Willie Steele is the Sherman Senior Vice President for First State Bank and has been in banking for ten years. Prior to banking he owned and operated a small business in Sherman for over twenty years. Willie earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in 1990. 

He has served on the SEDCO board in the past from 2013-17 and served as chairman from 2015-16 and was also elected to the Sherman City Council from 2007-2012 and again from 2019-2021. Willie has always been involved in the community serving on numerous boards including The Rehabilitation Center Board (past President), Boys & Girls Club of Sherman (past President), House of Eli, Sherman Booster Club, Sherman Ex-Students Association, and the Kiwanis Club (past President). He is also a Governor Abbott appointee to the Red River Boundary Commission. 

Willie and his wife Keri, both Sherman natives, have two grown children, Allyn and Blake, and are active in their church Post Oak Fellowship where Willie also serves as an Elder. He also enjoys ranching and operates his family’s land and cattle.
