Congratulations to two Cooper B-Line employees who found ways to save money, energy and water. For their efforts they won a corporate award that will benefit the residents fo Sherman.
Chris Brasher and Nick Bowers modified paint and lighting systems that will save more than 7 million gallons of water, 375,000 therms of natural gas and 1.6million kilowatts of electricity each year. For achieving such reductions, Cooper Industries accorded the local plant the Cooper Environmental Gold Award, the top designation. The honor comes with a $7,500 check for the City of Sherman, to be used for new park benches and trash cans along Fairview Park's new walking trail.
Cooper B-Line Plant Manager Donell Voorhees presented a glass award to Brasher and Bowers. Then he presented Mayor Bill Magers a giant mockup of a check for $7,500.
"The Cooper Environmental Award is given for making significant progress concerning the environment." "Mr. Bowers and Brasher were instrumental in executing these environmental initiatives." "The genesis of the project was driven by our individulals" involvement in our business and working to reduce our cost of manufacturing product," Voorhees said. Cooper B-Lline at Sherman has three major product lines: Comm data, cabinets to house computer servers and equipment,; electrical enclosures; meter housings.
